On Sunday 22nd March 2026, to mark 20 years since the passing of J Dilla, An Afternoon of Dilla travels beyond the UK for the very first time, landing in Groningen, Netherlands for an expanded international edition that continues our mission of connecting global communities through shared musical heritage, education, and independent culture.
Hosted at Fixy from 12–6pm (tickets available at fixy.club), this edition brings together listeners, DJs, producers, creatives, and Hip Hop heads of all ages (10+) to celebrate the life, legacy, and continuing impact of James Dewitt Yancey. Built in collaboration with the mighty Homebase, one of Europe’s most respected Hip Hop platforms, the Groningen gathering serves as an open, welcoming space for dialogue, listening, and community. It also acts as the official afterparty of the European Hip Hop Studies Conference ("Things Done Change"), uniting academic and grassroots perspectives in one celebratory event.
Developed by Vice beats alongside Official Ma Dukes, An Afternoon of Dilla has always been rooted in appreciation, connection, and shared experience. This Groningen edition embraces that spirit fully: combining curated listening and community-focused programming with an international roster, and a broader audience eager to honour Dilla’s enduring influence on music and culture.
We’re keeping the the full line-up under wraps, and will be announcing artists, DJs, and special guests in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for updates. Whether you’re familiar with the series or joining us for the first time, this promises to be a meaningful and memorable gathering in celebration of one of Hip Hop’s most visionary figures.
